The shoe accessories produced in our factory provide the shoe’s shape, support, stability, and comfort.
These products include the insole, the wooden shank, and the thermoplastic toe stiffener and shank.
The shank is found in almost all closed shoes. Its function is to prevent lateral movement of the foot, support the correct positioning of the heel bone, and protect the heel from potential external impacts.
Additionally, it shapes and supports the back part of the shoe and contributes to stability while walking and standing. A well-crafted shank ensures the shoe’s comfort, ease of wear, and overall stability.
The term “lefa” is an abbreviation of the German Lederfasermaterial, which means leather fiber material. It is made by grinding leather waste and then adding latex adhesive and synthetic fats. It comes in various qualities and thicknesses.
The materials we use are manufactured in Germany, and one of our specialties is the chromium-free LEFA material.
During production, the various manufacturing stages play a crucial role, collectively ensuring the creation of a shank with precise and technically required quality.
We produce both adhesive-coated and non-coated shanks according to customer requirements.
The lasting insole is found in every shoe, except for footwear made with the upper reinforced directly with the outsole. It is an important component of the shoe, with a shape and form that match the last’s sole. During the lasting process, the extra material for shaping is temporarily or permanently attached to the lasting insole.
The type of shoe determines whether it is made from thin and flexible cellulose material, leather, or even hard Kevlar and antistatic materials. It is therefore just as necessary in a children’s shoe or a high-heeled women’s fashion shoe as in a boot. Naturally, in addition to providing stability, it also plays an important role in ensuring walking comfort.
To ensure these functions, the construction of the insole, which we refer to as the half insole, varies depending on the intended function. This includes the half insole, split insole, traditional insole, sandwich insole, and coated insole. As the list shows, each of these requires a different manufacturing process.
Beyond the manufacturing technology, there is also a wide variety of materials used. As previously mentioned, these include leather, cellulose, fleece, recycled paper, and the list is still not complete. We would like to highlight the steel shank, which functions to support the heel and the area under the foot arch. Few people know that this steel piece is the reason why shoes must be removed during airport security checks.
The production of the insole begins in the cutting department, then, depending on the type of insole, continues with the gluing of the various layers, cutting out the space for the steel shank, and then riveting it in place. This is followed by pressing, shaping, and trimming the edges of the insole, completing the process. The above description is a very general overview of all the steps required during manufacturing.
We use a very wide range of thermoplastic toe stiffener and shank materials in our production.
Thermoplastic toe stiffeners provide the shape and support of the shoe’s toe through their function. They are typically made from thin, flexible materials, although there are exceptions, such as those used in mountaineering or safety work boots.
Thermoplastic shanks serve the same function as LEFA shanks, and therefore, we often preform them according to customer requirements.
The use of thermoplastic materials has become widespread in the footwear industry today, but there are still opponents who prefer shanks made from natural materials.
We consider ourselves partners of our clients and, accordingly, strive to participate in additional production preparation activities, such as coating insoles, manufacturing and coating footbeds, etc.
Perhaps this is not the right place for it, but it should be highlighted separately that, in response to our partners’ increasingly environmentally conscious demands, we use more and more materials such as chromium-free LEFA shanks and thermoplastic materials that are biodegradable.
Production of premium insole boards, counters, and toe puffs with decades of expertise and international recognition.
